Rangers Apprentice (Book Review)
The Rangers, with their shadowy ways, have always made him nervous. And now, fifteen-year-old Will has been chosen as Ranger's apprentice. But what he doesn't realize is that the Rangers are the protectors of the kingdom who will fight the battles before the battles reach the people. And there is a large battle brewing. The exiled Morgarath, Lord of the mountain of Rain and Night, is gathering his forces for an attack on the kingdom. This time he will not be denied...
Halt and Gilan looked at him, then looked at each other, and said in chorus: “You’re an apprentice. You’re not ready to think.” -Rangers Apprentice
The Ranger's Apprentice is a cool, simple, and short read, and has a really cool plot! The main character is Will, and I enjoyed his character. He was smart and stealthy, but respectful and kind. Quite different from most MC in modern books.
The book changes to a few of the other characters' side of the story, and it was really cool and opened up the world so much more. The Rangers in this book are amazing, like they just seem so cool and their really fun to read about. The Ranger in this book, Halt, is an awesome character, and if you read it, I think you'll like him. He's very cool, and he and Will are a sick duo. It's awesome. >:)
The violence level is very low. It's not an intense book. There's nothing too emotional or deep. It's a simple but cool read. The book is clean and safe. They say damn a couple of times, but it's not anything bad. And it's got some cool creatures in this book, specifically, the Kalkara. There isn't much action in the book cause it's about Will training as a Ranger, but it's very cool to see the Rangers hide in the shadows, and there are more books following, and I can't wait to read those.
I'd rate it an 8/10. I can't say it's in my top 3, but it's a good rating cause there's nothing wrong with the book and I enjoyed it! I'd recommend 11+
“Once you best a man, never gloat. Be generous and find something in his actions to praise. He won't enjoy being bested, but he'll make a good face of it. Show him you appreciate it. Praise can win you a friend. Gloating will only ever make enemies.” -Ranger's Apprentice
